MUSCLE/JOINT ACHES AND PAINS
Some of the biggest contributors to muscle and joint aches and pains are:
overwork, poor nutrition, lack of exercise, obesity and stress
certain dis-eases can also be contributors, arthritis and fibromyalgia being two of the more prominent ones.
The remedies can be as simple as setting limits so as to not overdo; keep moving, exercise to strengthen the muscles, joints, and bones; some exercises that are wonderful choices and beneficial are walking, yoga, tai chi, and swimming and losing weight will relieve alot of unneccessary stress on the joints which in turn will relieve pain;
Practice eating more consciously, alot of pain is created by our diets and one of the best ways to reduce the pain is to remove things like sugar, gluten, meat, caffeine and dairy which are some of the biggest offenders. Many do not know these are considered to be acidic and acidity creates pain and dis-ease in the body. People are hesitate to give up these foods, but if you were to actually try it and see how you feel, and then add them back and see the difference, you would see, as they say "the proof is in the pudding". Hippocrates said "Let your food be your medicine and your medicine be your food". Food is a key element in how we feel.
Lastly is stress relief, tension is held in our muscles and expressed as pain and discomfort. So reducing stress levels can help alleviate your pain. Ultilizing meditation, deep breathing, sunshine, fresh air, massages, warm baths; adding peppermint oil to a bath will help reduce pain as will epsom salts, which are magnesium, and most of us are deficent in mg and this deficiency will cause muscle spasms and cramp. Several other good ways to get mg is a powder you can add to water called Calm and mg oil which you can put on the bottoms of your feet and it will be rapidly absorbed by the body.
Muscle and joint pain can be eased with alternating hot and cold packs which tightens and relaxes the muscles which can help them to release tension. Warm castor oil packs can help will many ailments from muscle pain to digestion issues. Apple Cider Vinegar is another cure all that works well in reducing pain and cramping and is also excellent for heartburn.
There is a wonderful old recipe that includes blackstrap molasses, again high in mg, for relieving arthritis pain. My mom has soaked raisins in alcohol for years and eats a couple every day to keep arthritis at bay and she swears by it. Some of the old remedies are still some of the best, just like the use of copper bracelets that so many believe. Mustard packs are another old remedy, stinky but effective and worthy of mention.
There are many wonderful topical salves for this just try to find ones that are not laden with chemicals, remember your skin is your largest organ. Arnica is a useful herb that works well topically and orally as well.
Acupuncture is another great alternative for pain relief and sometimes just remembering to drink half your body weight in ounces of water each day can be enough to reduce pain.
There are many wonderful herbs and foods that can help with pain relief. My top three are: Ginger-also great for nausea
Turmeric-highly helpful in chronic pain, arthritis and fibromyalgia, its active ingredient is curcumin but turmeric is more beneficial than just one of its parts. Caffeine can help
Sticking your feet in hot water and putting cold washclothes on your forehead and neck.
